Irwandi holds a bachelor’s degree in English literature from the University of Exeter, and pursued graduate studies in photojournalism and documentary photography at the London College of Communication. While working in West Papua, Indonesia, Irwandi was embedded amongst museum staff at the Asmat Museum and focused on a long-term project on the Asmat people. His project<em> ‘Not A Blank Canvas’</em> was awarded the National Geographic Society storytelling grant in 2021. </p> <p>Irwandi’s work is part of the Forhanna Foundation Fund for Young Talent and National Geographic Society’s COVID-19 Emergency Fund for Journalists grants. He was exhibited at Breda Photo Festival in the Netherlands. One of his images, <em>‘The Human Cost of COVID-19’</em>, sparked controversy in Indonesia when it went viral after publication by National Geographic. In 2021, he was selected as one of the speakers for the National Geographic Society’s Storytellers Summit. In addition, Pinna is a consultant specialising in photo editing, and the production of photography books and exhibitions. She has participated in group exhibitions both locally and internationally, including the Kigali Photo Centre exhibition in Rwanda, and the Institut du Monde Arabe in France with her project <em>‘In Transit’ </em>which focussed on migrants in Tripoli, Libya. Her work has been featured in Reuters, Getty Images, BBC, the World Health Organisation, The New Humanitarian, the Washington Post and many others. As a member of the African Photojournalism Database (APJD), work from her project <em>‘Women of Libya’ </em>was published in the Witness<em> ‘Four to Follow #13’</em>. <em>‘Women of Libya’ </em>is also currently displayed in a group exhibition at the Afrika Museum curated in Berg en Dal, in the Netherlands.</p> <p>In 2020, Harib’s long term project <em>‘Unearth’ </em>was supported by the Arab Documentary Photography Program (ADPP), an initiative of the Magnum Foundation, Arab Fund for Arts and Culture, and Prince Claus Fund. She is one of the 2021-2021 VII Mentor Program mentees, having contributed to the VII Academy project <em>‘Amplifying Student Voices – Photographing Life in the Time of the Pandemic’</em>. In addition, Harib also contributed to <em>‘Covid-19 Global Impact’ </em>supported by the Magnum Foundation 2020. Informed by her experience in design, she uses photography to document the vibrant everyday realities of the nation's inhabitants. She specialises in evocative and sensitive portraits, which are disinguished by their brilliant multitude of colours and textures. </p> <p paraeid="{1db0f075-fbef-431d-aad6-3ad8ed400f00}{169}" paraid="360523466">Jiregna has received considerable acclaim for her work both in Ethiopia and internationally. She has exhibited at the Kasher Gallery, Refraction: New Photography of Africa and Its Diaspora (2018); From Our Perspective: Young Ethiopian Photographers Changing the Gaze; the New York photography festival Photoville 2016 and participated in the New York Times Portfolio Review 2016. Her work will be part of the upcoming exhibition: Treasures of Islam in Africa. From Timbuktu to Zanzibar at the Musée Mohammed VI d'art moderne et contemporain in Rabat. Eyerusalem Jiregna has studied in Ethiopia and in the USA. Her photographs have been featured among others on the Everyday Horn of Africa in Mfon: Women Photographers of the African Diaspora; Marie Claire and Whitewall Magazine.
