Joshua Irwandi is a documentary photographer and National Geographic Explorer based in Jakarta, Indonesia. Irwandi holds a bachelor’s degree in English literature from the University of Exeter, and pursued graduate studies in photojournalism and documentary photography at the London College of Communication. While working in West Papua, Indonesia, Irwandi was embedded amongst museum staff at the Asmat Museum and focused on a long-term project on the Asmat people. His project ‘Not A Blank Canvas’ was awarded the National Geographic Society storytelling grant in 2021.

Irwandi’s work is part of the Forhanna Foundation Fund for Young Talent and National Geographic Society’s COVID-19 Emergency Fund for Journalists grants. He was exhibited at Breda Photo Festival in the Netherlands. One of his images, ‘The Human Cost of COVID-19’, sparked controversy in Indonesia when it went viral after publication by National Geographic. In 2021, he was selected as one of the speakers for the National Geographic Society’s Storytellers Summit. He was recently awarded the 2021 World Press Photo Award in General News, the Grand Prize winner for the Lucie Foundation, and was selected as a finalist of The Pulitzer Prize in Breaking News Photography.

Irwandi’s work has been featured in National Geographic, NHK, The Times of London, The Globe and Mail, CNN, TIME and The Guardian.

Staff editor for the Italian edition of National Geographic Magazine since its foundation in 1998, and for National Geographic Traveller Italy since 2018, Marco Pinna is a photo editor and journalist.

Pinna curates and supervises photo exhibits and festivals and has served as the artistic director of the Umbria World Fest photography festival in Foligno, Italy. He has been a jury member for both national and international photo contests and has participated in numerous portfolio reviews. In addition, Pinna is a consultant specialising in photo editing, and the production of photography books and exhibitions. Dedicating a special attention to emerging talents within photography, Pinna teaches photojournalism and editing.

Nada Harib is a freelance photographer based in Tripoli, Libya, who works on long-term stories and covers daily news, contributing to the Instagram pages @EverydayAfrica and @EverydayMiddleEast. She has participated in group exhibitions both locally and internationally, including the Kigali Photo Centre exhibition in Rwanda, and the Institut du Monde Arabe in France with her project ‘In Transit’ which focussed on migrants in Tripoli, Libya. Her work has been featured in Reuters, Getty Images, BBC, the World Health Organisation, The New Humanitarian, the Washington Post and many others. As a member of the African Photojournalism Database (APJD), work from her project ‘Women of Libya’ was published in the Witness ‘Four to Follow #13’. ‘Women of Libya’ is also currently displayed in a group exhibition at the Afrika Museum curated in Berg en Dal, in the Netherlands.

In 2020, Harib’s long term project ‘Unearth’ was supported by the Arab Documentary Photography Program (ADPP), an initiative of the Magnum Foundation, Arab Fund for Arts and Culture, and Prince Claus Fund. She is one of the 2021-2021 VII Mentor Program mentees, having contributed to the VII Academy project ‘Amplifying Student Voices – Photographing Life in the Time of the Pandemic’. In addition, Harib also contributed to ‘Covid-19 Global Impact’ supported by the Magnum Foundation 2020. In 2021 her work ‘The Mass Graves of Tarhuna’ was selected as one of Time’s ‘Top Photos of 2021’.

Born in October 1970, A Yin taught himself photography at the age of 19. His work records Chinese nomadic culture, life, and traditions, capturing a backdrop of ecological change and industrialisation of the grasslands.

He has been the recipient of both the ‘Golden Image Award’ and the ‘Human Contribution Award’, some of China’s most prestigious accolades for photography. He has won National Geographic’s ‘All Roads’ World Photography Award and is the only minority photographer in China to have been twice named amongst the ‘Top Ten Chinese Portrait Photographers’.

His photography has been exhibited in more than 20 countries and regions around the world including the United Nations Headquarters, the United States, Germany, France, Canada, Japan, and Taiwan, China.

Natela Grigalashvili is a freelance documentary photographer and former photo reporter and film operator based in Tbilisi, Georgia. Having begun her career shooting in black and white, Grigalashvili has been taking color photographs with a digital camera for over a decade. Her long-term documentary projects have primarily focused on the lives and issues of people living in the villages and provincial cities of Georgia. Grigalashvili was awarded the Alexander Roinishvili Prize for her contribution to Georgian photography in 2007. She founded photography clubs in Javakheti (2014), in the Pankisi Gorge (2015) and in Adjara (2016), and in 2015 founded the photo agency ‘Kontakt Photos’. She was the camera operator for Irakli Paniashvili’s 2009 film ‘Sergo Gotverani’.

Eyerusalem Adugna Jiregna (b.1993) is an emerging photographer and fashion designer based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Informed by her experience in design, she uses photography to document the vibrant everyday realities of the nation's inhabitants. She specialises in evocative and sensitive portraits, which are disinguished by their brilliant multitude of colours and textures.

Jiregna has received considerable acclaim for her work both in Ethiopia and internationally. She has exhibited at the Kasher Gallery, Refraction: New Photography of Africa and Its Diaspora (2018); From Our Perspective: Young Ethiopian Photographers Changing the Gaze; the New York photography festival Photoville 2016 and participated in the New York Times Portfolio Review 2016. Her work will be part of the upcoming exhibition: Treasures of Islam in Africa. From Timbuktu to Zanzibar at the Musée Mohammed VI d'art moderne et contemporain in Rabat. Eyerusalem Jiregna has studied in Ethiopia and in the USA. Her photographs have been featured among others on the Everyday Horn of Africa in Mfon: Women Photographers of the African Diaspora; Marie Claire and Whitewall Magazine. She was recently named as featured in the New York Times article "Five Art Accounts to Follow on Instagram Now".
