بناها و مکان های تاریخی و نیز آثار و شاهکارهای معماری منعکس کننده تعاملات فرهنگی در طول جاده ابریشم هستند. این مکان ها و آثارنه تنها شاهدی بر گذشته ای پربارند بلکه برای جوامع محلی عصر معاصرمرجعی از انتقال دانش و آموختن ازهمدیگرند. بناهای مذهبی مانند معابد، مساجد، کلیساها و نیز مراکز تجاری مانند بازارها و کاروانسراها نمونه هایی از این بناهای تاریخی اند که درخود به شکل قابل توجهی عناصرمیراث مشترک جاده ابریشم را جای داده اند. علاوه بر این مراکز علمی همچون مدارس و نیز مکان های گردهمایی عمومی، همگی ساخته شده و الهام گرفته از سبک های معماری گوناگون و عناصر فرهنگی مختلفند.

مکان ها و بناهای تاریخی نه تنها دروازه های شناخت آداب و رسوم و زندگی درتمدن های پیشین در طول جاده ابریشم هستند، بلکه نمایانگر ارتباط تاریخی میان فرهنگ های مناطق مختلف حوزه جاده ابریشم اند. امروزه این آثار تاریخی به ما اجازه شناخت بهتر گذشته و نیز آگاهی عمیق تر از هویت جمعی مان را می دهند.

این مسابقه عکاسی سعی در تشویق شرکت کنندگان به تصویر کشیدن بناها، مکان ها و شاهکارهای معماری دارد که در خود به طور همزمان دو یا چند سبک معماری جای داده اند و نمایانگر ارتباطات و تعاملات میان فرهنگ های مختلف اند.
