Emilio Morenatti is a Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist with The Associated Press, based in Barcelona. With over 30 years of experience, he has reported from more than 60 countries, including extended periods in conflict zones such as Afghanistan, Gaza, and Pakistan. He received the Pulitzer Prize for Feature Photography in 2021 for his portraits of elderly Spaniards during COVID-19, and again in 2023 for Breaking News Photography in Ukraine. He was also a finalist in 2009 for his work in Afghanistan. Morenatti’s work has earned multiple other accolades, including World Press Photo, Pictures of the Year International, and NPPA awards. He holds a master’s in Photojournalism from the University of the Arts London and currently oversees AP’s photography in Spain and Portugal.
