传统体育和赛事是体现丝绸之路沿线不同族群文化特征的重要元素。数千年以来，丝绸之路沿线的互动和重新发展提供了一种机遇，让来自不同地域的体育和赛事进行传播，并且丰富了各地域间不同的发展程度。这些活动一直是多样的共同遗产的一部分，可以以个人或集体为单位进行，并带有区域或地方特征。数百种、不同的传统体育和赛事包含摔跤武术或艺术、骑马比赛，如马球，射箭，益智游戏，如围棋、象棋、五子棋，以及各种形式的儿童游戏沿着丝绸之路存在了数百年。 此外，传统体育和赛事一直促进道德观和价值观根基的发展，包括自我控制力和谦虚的精神。在个人和集体层面，它们促进传播尊重和包容的价值观，并加强社会凝聚力和倡导建立和平。因此，它们提供了一个很好的机会，可以将人们凝聚在一起，增强包容感，促进丝绸之路沿线居民之间互动的价值。 如今，传统体育和游戏，不仅塑造了丝绸之路沿线不同地区人民的共同遗产，还为在当今时代文化持续重新相遇和交流打下了坚实的基础。 鼓励丝绸之路青年之眼摄影大赛的参与者以他们独特的视角和创造力介绍丝绸之路上两个及以上地区和文化的传统体育和赛事的组成部分。
