GMB Akash is an internationally acclaimed Bangladeshi photographer known for his compassionate work documenting the lives of marginalized and vulnerable communities around the world. Through powerful and deeply human imagery, he highlights dignity, resilience, and social injustice, using photography as a tool for awareness and change. His work has been featured in over 100 major publications, including Vogue, Time, and The Guardian, and exhibited globally. Winner of more than 100 international awards, he became the first Bangladeshi selected for the prestigious Joop Swart Masterclass of the World Press Photo in 2002 and later won a World Press Photo award in 2006. He is also the author of FIRST LIGHT and Survivors, founder of the GMB Akash Institute of Photography in Bangladesh, and a frequent international speaker and jury member for major photography competitions, including the UNESCO Silk Roads Photography Contest.
