Almagul Menlibayeva

Almagul Menlibayeva is a Kazakh artist working across video, photography and cyber-textiles, whose practice critically examines systems of image production, collective memory and ecological history in Central Asia, with a particular focus on women's agency and the cultural epistemologies of nomadic societies. Her work has been presented at major international biennials including Venice, Sydney, Sharjah and Thailand, as well as at the Grand Palais, Paris, and most recently at the 61st Venice Biennale with the collateral project As Above, So Below. From 2025 to 2026, she is presenting the retrospective solo exhibition I Understand Everything at the Almaty Museum of Arts, Kazakhstan. She is a Chevalier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, France.
